Personal
Badminton
I play badminton in my spare time, and I am roughly at Zhongyu Level IV. I am always happy to find people to play with!
Tech
I like tools that make everyday computing feel more efficient, expressive, or simply more fun.
Before the “LLM Era”, I enjoyed writing code and building small tools for daily use, including Chrome extensions, zsh/vim/tmux configurations, and notification bots.
Now that coding agents can write many of those snippets faster, I often ask them to handle these small customizations for me. My interest has shifted toward how to cooperate with coding agents effectively.
Languages
I enjoy learning languages because each language gives access to different ways of thinking and different cultural materials.
Besides Mandarin Chinese (my mother tongue) and English, I am learning:
-
Cantonese
My expression and grammar are near-native, but my pronunciation of some finals and tones still needs work.
I learn Cantonese because Hong Kong culture has had a strong influence on me through films and music. I especially enjoy Hong Kong singers such as Alan Tam, Leslie Cheung, Jacky Cheung, and many others.
-
Japanese (日本語、にほんご)
Around JLPT N4. I study vocabulary and grammar mainly on Duolingo.
-
Hokkien
I can handle basic daily conversations.
Hokkien is my heritage dialect, but my family did not use it frequently when I was growing up, so I have been relearning it on my own.
